  Chicago Education Alliance

Supporting Students, Empowering Educators, Engaging Communities

  The Chicago Education Alliance (CEA) is part of a national collaborative effort to improve urban education.

The CEA is part of two national networks:
  CEA facilitates communication and collaboration to support school reform at all levels of education (K - College) with the goal of improving learning environments and increasing the number of students going on to higher education. The CEA includes seven major universities, the City Colleges of Chicago, the Chicago Public Schools, other education organizations, as well as community organizations and businesses.

The activities of the CEA include:

1) a coordinating agency role in developing and implementing multiple school-university initiatives;

2) an overseeing role in promoting policy change and collaborative research; and

3) a supporting role in mobilizing support for new and existing reform initiatives led by other agencies.

The Chicago Education Alliance serves as a convening institution state-wide to address policy, research and practice issues to improve preK-16 education in Illinois.

   The role the Chicago Education Alliance plays in the Chicago GEAR UP Alliance is as an organizer of the original project and as oversight manager of the two GEAR UP awards.
