Students who apply to Northeastern Illinois University
(NEIU) must have a 3.0 GPA and over 90% attendance
and be recommended by their counselors. They then
take the Placement Test, given to all incoming Northeastern
students. College Bridge students are able to select
a class from the general education courses available
to all freshman students.College classes are available
at the end of the high school day, from 3:00 to as
late as 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday. Bridge students
have tutors, computer labs, and the university library
available, as well as the cordinator and counselors
in the high schools who act as support for Bridge
students.
University Entrance Requirements (in addition to
CPS requirements):
NEIU accepts junior and senior students with a
3.0 GPA recommended by a high school counselor and
attendance of 90% or higher.The program is open to
a maximum of 40 students, no more than 10 from one
high school.
