The
Chicago Education
Alliance has formed a Dollars for Scholars
chapter to raise money for GEAR UP students.
The
first money raising event was the Easy Spirit
Freedom Walk for Education held in October of
2003. This walk was co-sponsored by Easy Spirit
and Scholarship America to benefit Dollars for
Scholars chapters in Illinois. The money raised
by The Chicago Education Alliance Dollars for
Scholars chapter funded scholarships and other
education related prizes to give to deserving
GEAR UP students.

The Merrill
Lynch Scholars Program officially launches
a scholarship fund for increasing the number of
students attending college and achieving their
dreams, and is aimed at students currently attending
high school in communities where college participation
rates are low.
