The Expeditions 2000 Summer Academy was
sponsored through Northeastern Illinois University/Chicago
Teachers' Center. Approximately 150 students participated
for several weeks in the project and then three of the
participating schools continued on through "Project
Exploration". Teachers prepared for the Summer
Academy by attending various Professional
Development Programs. The Expeditions 2000 Summer
Academy concluded with a closing day presentation of
various projects that the students completed either
through group participation or individual efforts. (See
Last Day Festivities) of which the student's web page
was one such project.
Three
areas of study for the Summer Academy were:

A Trip down the Amazon
Dinosaur

GEAR
UP teachers who participated in our Inquiry Seminar
with Paul
Sereno and Gabrielle Lyon last spring are now connecting
with Paul Sereno's expedition to the Sahara this fall.
The first two "Classrooms
of the Week" went up on the web on Monday,
September 11th.
