Over 250 teachers from GEAR UP networks participated.
Geralynn Wilson, the Reading Initiative Project Manager
for the Chicago Public Schools and former McCosh teacher,
gave the keynote address. She discussed the ways in which
GEAR UP had helped the McCosh school community and presented
the key topics of CPS Reading Instruction Framework. All
workshops included curriculum materials, books, or manipulatives
to help teachers get a start on applying new strategies
in their classrooms. Network staff will follow up with
teachers at each school. They will discuss needs for continued
professional development and other ways to support teachers
in their efforts to implement new approaches..... |
