Writing for the Web
 
  Know the facts about your readers:
  Now that you realize that only a few people will read 75% of what you write on the web....why not write so that they will want to read it.
Read this: Producing informal text - If you are writing for students then a more informal text seems appropriate.

An informal style can include:
· 1. use of don't, didn't, you'll etc
· 2. conversational phrases
· 3. referring often to "you" and "we"
· 4. making the site personal - tell the users who it's been written by


Studies

Other things to consider include:
·     1. · using lots of action verbs rather than "is", "been" etc
      2. · short words (no jargon) and short sentences. Make sure that the text will make sense to an outsider!
      3. · users can enter your site at any page, especially if they've arrived there from a search engine. Every page should be fairly self-explanatory, so that they have a clear idea of what's going on.
