OK,
so now you are in high school. It's 3-4 years before you go
to college, community college or a trade school. What do you
do each year to make certain that you get into a school of your
choice? This planner will help guide you and provide you with
planning tools for the four years of high school.
Everyone
should ask themselves these questions:
-
Why do I want to go to more schools after high school?
-
Isn't a high school degree enough?
-
I am tired of studying and taking tests - why four more
years?
- How
do I know I'll do well in college or any other school?

HINT:
In order to make this decision, you need information.
First, you need to know that continuing your education
after high school will change your life. |
1.
Learning opportunities - Until now, you have had little
choice about subjects you want to take. In a post-secondary
school program, all that changes. You get to pick a direction
you want your life to take by picking a major or subject
that you are passionate about. For example, you are a budding
artist. Then attend a college or university that specializes
in your area of artistic abilities. There are two similar goals
that you will achieve in your pursuit of a post-secondary education
- 1) You will become a life long learner and 2) You will
learn "How to learn" so that after college
if there is something you wish to learn about - you can teach
yourself!
2.
Career opportunities - If you don't know what you want
to major in, college is a great testing ground to find
out about yourself and your passions. For example: You may think
you want to be a lawyer, and then you take a class in European
History and find yourself spending your summer traveling throughout
Europe visiting places you studied about in class. So, you decide
to become a historian.
3.
Income - The amount of education you have will determine
the amount of money you make during your lifetime. View
the income chart prepared by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
It is pretty obvious that you can double your yearly earning
by getting a high school degree and graduating from college.
The value of a college education can earn you over a lifetime
an additional $1,000,000.
4.
Skills - The fact is that after high school you just
don't have the job skills you need to be competitive
in today's job market. Taking time to go on to a school after
high school and even though you are working can offer you that
"once in a lifetime" opportunity to follow your dreams.
Begin to search for your dream career today by first discovering
who you are and what talents you have. BACK
