GEAR UP provides parents with opportunities to help their children
prepare for college.
Resources for Parents

Book Clubs
These parent led book clubs allow parents to explore topics and issues on a variety of topics.
Career Fairs
Career Fairs allow parents and their children to gain a better understanding of career options available to them along with educational requirements.
College Campus Tours
Parents and their children are invited to attend college tours. When families explore together, parents can provide informed guidance and support in helping their child make the college choice that is right for them.
Computer Classes
Helping parents get up to speed with technology helps them to utilize resources to guide their families in evaluating post secondary options. In addition, parents learn how to use the CPS Parent Portal in order to stay informed about activities at school.
Family Nights
Family Nights help build community, with families learning about resources for their children and themselves.
Leadership Conference
These conferences allow families to meet others throughout the entire Chicago GEAR UP community and share resources and ideas. Many of the workshops at the conference are led by parents.
Walk for Success
This ongoing activity provides parents and families an opportunity to become advocates for their children and their community.
