GEAR UP parent workshops and classes are interactive and inquiry-based. They are conducted in the parents' native language whenever possible. Staff are bilingual and bicultural. Educators incorporate culturally relevant pedagogy, access to technology and the arts, cooperative learning and critical thinking into the classroom.
The GEAR UP partnership model demonstrates that parents are positive role models. The fact that they are lifelong learners has proven to be a motivating factor in the lives of their adolescent children.
